Soharee leaf, cut from a plant native to Trinidad, is used as a vessel to eat food on in Trinidad and Tobago. Food at prayers(Hindu religious functions) and wedding are traditionally served on these leaves but nowadays, for the sake of convenience and cost, plastic versions have replaced the fresh leaves. Traditionally, these were cheap and affordable with many people having a patch at the back of their house. If that wasn’t enough, a neighbor or someone else in the community would provide when needed- this is the art and beauty of sharing in small villages in Trinidad.
