This creamy cajun shrimp and chicken pasta dish is not only luxurious and creamy, it’s a simple one pot dish you can make in 30 mins. Great for a weeknight dinner, a special occasion, or a side dish to bring to a bbq or pot luck.
If you wish to make the VEGETARIAN version, eliminate the shrimp and chicken and increase the mushrooms. Season the mushrooms you would the same way with the chicken or shrimp! Try it and let me know.
Cajun pasta is a social media favorite with many sharing their own version. In my version I add colorful veggies and ample seasoning for maximum flavor.
For a GLUTEN FREE Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Pasta dish, replace the pasta with your favorite gluten free pasta like brown rice pasta!
For the video I used a Queso Quesadilla Cheese, however, the cheese in this dish can be replace with your favorite melting cheese including mozzarella or cheddar cheese. Parmesan really finishes off this dish nicely so it’s highly recommend that you use it.

CREAMY CAJUN SHRIMP AND CHICKEN PASTA
Ingredients
- 1 box pasta penne, fettucine or linguine, or gluten free option
- 2 lbs shrimp
- ½ lb chicken breast
- 3 tbs green seasoning
- 6 tbs extra virgin olive oil divided
- 3 tbsp cajun seasoning
- 5 tbs butter divided
- 3 bell peppers yellow, orange bell pepper
- 3 scallions
- 1 portabella mushroom large
- 2 tbs minced garlic
- 2 ¼ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup mozarella cheese or other melting cheese
- ½ cup pecorino romano or other cheese
- 3 tbs parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and mix in 1 tbs butter.
- Wash and season chicken. Season with 1 tbs green seasoning and 1 tsp Cajun seasoning.
- Wash and season shrimp with 2 tbs green seasoning and 1 tbs Cajun seasoning.
- Heat 2 tbs oil and 2 tbs butter in a wide frying pan or skillet. Add chicken and cook until golden brown on both sides. Remove to a plate.
- Add another 2 tbs of oil, when hot, add shrimp in a single layer and cook until golden brown. Flip and cook the other side. Repeat with the remaining shrimp.
- Add 2 tbs more oil and 2 tbs butter, raise heat to high and add onion, garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add peppers, mushrooms, scallions, hot pepper, 1 tbs spice mix and stir fry for another 2 mins.
- Add 2 ¼ cups heavy cream, all the cheese, 1 tbs spice mix and stir for 2 mins.
- Stir in pasta and parmesan cheese.
