Winter takes a toll on my body, leaving me down, exhausted, and in a slump. I recently discovered the benefits of consuming liver and added it to my diet with much success. I saw a vast improvement in my mood, energy, and overall well-being.

It’s easy to eat liver with this delicious recipe. One will never know that we are practically eating ‘medicine’.

In this recipe, the liver is cooked with other healthy ingredients, including turmeric, black pepper, geera, olive oil, onions, and tomatoes. I also added a touch of thyme and oregano. It’s really a superpower meal.

Use any type of liver—chicken, beef, etc.

You can eat this with roasted vegetables on the side for a low-carb meal or with roti, white rice, brown rice, steamed jasmine rice, quinoa, black rice, or wild rice.

  • Cut liver into the desired size.
  • Heat oil in a wide skillet over medium heat, add cumin seeds, and cook for 1 minute.
  • Stir in onion and garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
  • When the onion is fragrant, add, turmeric, black pepper, and green seasoning. Cook for 1 minute.
  • Add in tomato, thyme, scallion, and oregano if using, hot pepper, and cook for 3-5 minutes until the tomato softens.
  • Add liver and stir well to combine.
  • Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 10-15 minutes.
  • At the end of cooking stir in chopped culantro, more hot pepper if you wish, or pimento pepper, cumin, and salt to taste.

For a curry version, add 1 tbs curry powder when adding the turmeric.
